GETTING STARTED
What is CrossFit?
CrossFit is a coached fitness program that combines strength training, conditioning, and functional movements such as lifting, running, rowing, jumping, pushing, pulling, and carrying. At Carozza Fitness, the goal is not simply to finish a difficult workout. It is to help you become stronger, healthier, more confident, and better prepared for everyday life. Every class is guided by a coach, and every workout can be adjusted to your experience and fitness level. Coach’s Tip: You do not have to get in shape before joining. That is what we are here to help you do.
Is CrossFit good for beginners?
Absolutely. In fact, most of our members had never done CrossFit before walking through our doors. You don’t need experience. You don’t need confidence. You don’t need to know the movements. We’ll teach you everything. Every workout can be scaled to your current ability so you’ll always leave feeling challenged—but successful.

Do I need to be in shape before I start?
No. You join a gym to GET in shape. Not because you’re already there. Some of our members hadn’t exercised in years before joining. Others were recovering from injuries. Some simply wanted a healthier lifestyle. Everyone starts somewhere. We’ll help you build from there.
What should I expect during my first class?
Every class lasts approximately 60 minutes. You’ll be welcomed by your coach and introduced to the workout. Every class includes: • Warm-up • Movement instruction • Strength or skill work • Workout of the Day (WOD) • Cool down You won’t be expected to know anything beforehand. Your coach will explain every movement and help you select the appropriate weights and modifications.

Do I need weightlifting experience?
No. Many members touch a barbell for the very first time at Carozza Fitness. Our coaches teach proper movement before adding weight. Learning correctly is always more important than lifting heavier.
How often should I come?
We recommend 3 days per week when you’re first starting. Once your body adapts, many members increase to 4–5 days per week depending on their goals. Consistency—not perfection—is what produces results.
CLASSES, SAFETY & COACHING
How long are the classes?
Most group classes are 60 minutes. That hour typically includes warming up, learning and practicing movements, strength or skill work, and completing the day’s workout under the guidance of a coach.
Do I need weightlifting experience?
No. Many members lift a barbell for the first time at Carozza Fitness. Our coaches teach proper technique and help you develop strength gradually. More experienced athletes also receive feedback and coaching to continue improving.
Will the coaches teach me proper technique?
Yes. Teaching safe and effective movement is a central part of every class. Coaches demonstrate exercises, explain the purpose of each movement, watch members as they train, and provide feedback or adjustments when needed. Questions are always encouraged.
Are the coaches certified?
Our classes are led by experienced coaches with training in areas such as CrossFit, strength and conditioning, Olympic weightlifting, HYROX preparation, personal training, and other fitness specialties. What also distinguishes our coaches is how well they know their members. They understand individual goals, limitations, progress, and training history.
Is CrossFit safe?
Any physical activity carries some risk, but intelligent coaching, proper technique, appropriate progression, and honest communication significantly improve safety. At Carozza Fitness, quality of movement comes before speed or weight. Workouts can be modified based on experience, ability, and individual needs. Coach’s Tip: Leave your ego at the door. The goal is not to win today’s workout—it is to keep getting stronger for years to come.
What if I have an injury or limitation?
Tell your coach about any injury, limitation, or medical concern before class. When appropriate, we can adjust movements, weights, range of motion, and intensity. Depending on the situation, we may recommend that you speak with your physician or physical therapist before training. An injury may change the plan, but it does not always have to end the journey.
Can workouts be modified?
Absolutely. Modifying workouts is a normal part of training. Your coach can adjust movements, weights, repetitions, distance, intensity, or range of motion so that the workout gives you the intended benefit at an appropriate level. Scaling is not doing less. It is choosing the right version of the workout for you.
Will I be forced to perform movements I am uncomfortable with?
No. We will encourage you to learn, practice, and gradually step outside your comfort zone, but you will never be pressured into a movement that is inappropriate for your ability, injury history, or confidence level. There is almost always an effective alternative.
How large are the classes?
Class size varies by day and time, but group classes are kept manageable so members receive meaningful coaching and attention. You will train alongside others, but you will not be treated as just another person in the room.
TRAINING & RESULTS
How often should I attend?
For many beginners, three classes per week are a strong starting point. It provides enough consistency to learn, adapt, and make progress while allowing time for recovery. As your fitness and experience improve, you may choose to train four or five days per week depending on your goals, schedule, and recovery. Consistency matters more than perfection.
Will CrossFit help me lose weight?
CrossFit can support fat loss by combining strength training, conditioning, accountability, and consistent activity. Results also depend on nutrition, sleep, stress, recovery, and how regularly you train. We encourage members to focus not only on the scale, but also on strength, energy, confidence, movement quality, and overall health.
Will I build muscle and become stronger?
Consistent strength training can help you build muscle, improve bone density, and become stronger for both workouts and everyday activities. Your results will depend on your training consistency, nutrition, recovery, experience, and individual goals. “Physically, I feel stronger and notice a difference when it comes to daily tasks.” — RJ
How long will it take to see results?
Everyone progresses differently. Many members begin noticing improvements in energy, confidence, movement, and strength within their first several weeks. More significant physical changes require consistent training, supportive nutrition, and recovery over time. We focus on lasting progress—not quick fixes. “True progress comes from the habits you build every day.” — Jodi
Will CrossFit improve my endurance?
Yes. Our workouts regularly challenge cardiovascular endurance, stamina, strength, and the ability to recover between efforts. Over time, this can help you feel more capable during workouts and have more energy for everyday life, recreation, and sports.
Is CrossFit useful for athletes?
Yes. CrossFit and strength-and-conditioning training can help athletes develop strength, power, speed, coordination, agility, work capacity, and resilience. Training can complement a sport-specific program for teenagers, adults, recreational athletes, and competitive athletes.
Can I train simply because I want to be healthier?
Absolutely. That is why most people train. You do not have to compete or chase advanced movements. Many members want to feel stronger, move better, have more energy, manage stress, and stay active as they age. Those are meaningful goals.
Will I get "too bulky"?
Significant muscle gain requires intentional training, nutrition, genetics, and time. For most people, CrossFit helps create a stronger, leaner, and more athletic body. Your coach can help you train in a way that supports your personal goals.
Is every workout different?
The program is constantly varied, but not random. You will repeat important movements because practice creates strength and skill. However, the combinations, formats, loads, durations, and training focus will change throughout the program. This keeps training engaging while allowing measurable progress.
How difficult are the workouts?
The workouts are designed to be challenging, but the appropriate level of difficulty varies for each person. Your coach will help you select movements, weights, and pacing that allow you to train safely and effectively. You remain in control of your effort. The goal is not to keep up with someone else. It is to improve yourself.
